Whale Entanglement App

This dynamic app allows for retrospective analysis on how enacting Risk Assessment and Mitigation Program (RAMP) zone closures affects trade-offs between avoiding whale risk and protecting fisheries revenue. More specifically, it contains spatial information on the distributions of Dungeness crab fishery revenue, humpback, and blue whales from November 2009 to April 2019, relative to the seven RAMP zones. EcoCast Explorer App

EcoCast Explorer gives users an opportunity to explore how the EcoCast product works. Users are able to generate predictive maps for specific dates, for single species, and can change the species weightings. This tool gives users the ability to explore how species are responding to changing ocean conditions, and how that can influence the EcoCast Product. Also see it on the CoastWatch EcoCast page. National Bycatch Report Explorer

This app explores bycatch statistics in US fisheries from 2010-2015. Visualize data by gear, region, or species, or explore the relative bycatch index developed by Savoca et al. 2020 [link]. Raw bycatch data is downloadable through the app, read more about the National Bycatch Report here.

Northeast Shelf Futures

WhaleWatch 2.0 Explorer gives users an opportunity to explore historical trends in blue whale distribution along the U.S. west coast. Select historical date of interest and download georeferenced data. Customize the display: use dropdowns to change map extent, or to visualize the shipping lanes used to calculate the WhaleWatch Shipping Lanes Indicator.
